was named after Senator Charles Sumner (6 January 1811 – 11 March
1874), and officially incorporated on February 7, 1891. Sumner suffered a major downtown fire in 1895. Warehouses are popping up in the Sumner Valley. Target hired American Port Services to operate a major international cross dock facility. J.C. Penney has a distribution center in the city as well.
